Let the Convention pick the VP

I came across an interesting aricle in the San Francisco Chronicle by Steve Stien "Exercise democracy - let the conventions decide on VPs" (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cg i?f=/c/a/2008/08/05/EDA7125JEN.DTL)
He raises the possibility of letting delegates actually decide the VP nominee. I say YES!

Louder does not equal more!

I've followed the election season from Day 1. I haven't commented or wrote a diary on mydd in a long while. But the volume and shear bias and slander against Hillary Clinton is forcing my hand to write. I've gradually noticed that sites that I used to love eg DailyKos and Democratic Underground are unbearable pits of Clinton hositility. All civility has gone out the window and one time anti-Clinton GOP talking points are are being rehashed as fact by fellow Democrats. But I've also noticed the "loud" factor.  Obama supporters are far louder in their criticism, and frankly I think more vocal. Are there more of them? Perhaps online.

I've taken some poll results and anecdotal evidence and tried to formulate a theory.

Clinton supporters are generally quieter. Obama pulls more independents but does not hold down the base. If obama is the nominee, McCain will draw a significant number of Clinton primary voters.

Lives Hang in the Balance, I Urge Sen. Reid to Negotiate a Compromise

Growing up in New Jersey, I made many friends who came from an assortment of different countries.  I loved going to the Filipino cotillions, eating empanadas, or just hearing about old Poland from my friend's grandparents. One friend whom I developed a particularly strong relationship was with my friend Luis. We did everything together, and both developed strong relationships with each other's families.  A particular episode that I will never forget was the college fair at school. We were both touring the different booths, I was talking up a storm about which colleges were good, which had the best parties, which ones sucked, etc. Luis was noticeably quiet. When we left, I continued bantering about college life. He simply replied, "I'm not going". He then cleared the gulp in his throat and explained to me slowly, with his voice shaking how his family had overstayed their visa and were here in the country illegally, college was not an option.  Naively, I replied, "Why don't you just apply for citizenship". Little did I know about our arcane immigration laws.  I graduated and eventually came to New York to study business . Luis on the other hand graduated and found a job as a mechanic. He still lives at home and yearns for the opportunity to go to college.

POTENTIAL REPUBLICAN UPSET IN NJ-GOV

In a new NBC/Marist College Poll, Corzine and Forrester are tied in dead heat. Corzine 44% to Forrester's 43%.  This poll only confirms the shrinking spread between the two candidates. Oh lord, this is Jersey we have to win this one!

http://www.maristpoll.marist.edu/NJ/GV051010.htm Both Sides have been bombarding the waves with ads. If Forrester performs above the avg statewide Republican he may pull some GOPers into the legislature. Here's to the Northern Democratic Machine getting the vote out, if Hudson and Essex perform well it will be enough to offset an above average Forrester performance in the suburbs.

CLINTON GETS GOP CHALLENGE (PIRRO)

(AP) "ALBANY, N.Y. - Jeanine Pirro, a high-profile prosecutor from the New York City area, said Monday she will seek the Republican nomination to challenge Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in her bid for re-election next year"

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050808/ap_on_el_se/pirro_clinton

Looks like Clinton will have her hands full in 2006. Pirro shouldn't be underestimated, she is very savvy, But Clinton is the 800 pound Gorilla of fundraising and campaigning. Hope the Senator will show Jeanine the way back to Westchester.

Rasmussen US Senate Poll; VA, MD

Bumped with editing. I really doubt that Warner is running for the Senate, but it's good to see that he beats Allen in Virginia, and I think Cardin holds the upperhand in Maryland, Jerome

Virginia:
Warner 48
Allen 44

Maryland:
Cardin 45
Steele 40

Mfume 40
Steele 47

"With Cardin atop the Democratic ticket, the white vote is evenly divided but Democrats attract just 51% of the African-American vote. In that mach-up, Steele attracts 30% of the African-American vote."

LESS THAN 20 MILLION WATCH BUSH'S LIES.

The ratings for Bush's Speech were abysmal.  People are getting the drift and realize that this is all lip service.  When you lie constantly to the American People, they will tune you out.  Hopefully our fellow citizens are starting to understand the scum that is BushCo.

THIS WORRIES ME IN NJ

According to a recent poll by the jersey journal Bush leads Kerry in the Democratic Bastion of Hudson. John Kerry must carry Hudson county by a wide a margin to carry the state. It's not even supposed to be within single digits.

http://www.nj.com/news/jjournal/index.ssf?/base/news-2/1096708229126370.xml

Let's hope this is an outlier and not a trend.  What the hell is a matter with my state!  I don't want to get panicky, but I'm starting to see Bush/Cheney Signs in JERSEY CITY!!!!...God help us!  BUT IM CLINGING>>>KERRY WILL WIN.
